Barrie’s 8th Annual Food Bank Bash was held on Thursday night (Dec 5th) at Donaleighs Irish Public House. The event held to raise awareness of the plight of our own Barrie residents who have to rely on the food bank to get through some hard times. It was also to raise much-needed funds to support the efforts of Barrie Food Bank. On the night the event raised$1,100. Mayor Jeff Lehman was in attendance to give his support for this great cause; he even entertained the packed crowd with his band Sonic Coalition rocked the house and gave them a night they will never forget.
On the same night, Ripple of Kindness presented an incredible donation of $27,000 to Barrie Food Bank. Ripple of Kindness is a remarkable group of women who work tirelessly to bring change to Barrie and Simcoe. They collect food donations throughout the year, and with a team of 100 volunteers, we are able to distribute this food to almost 24,000 individuals annually.
All donations large and small are welcome. Most needed items would include; baby food, can fruit and vegetables, peanut butter, powdered milk, can tuna, rice, assorted pasta, luncheon meats, soups, laundry soap, can juices and drinking boxes.
