Someone wise once said…”weekends are more than just a couple of days free of work and school…weekends are a state of mind”
Okay, nobody wise said that. It was us…and we stole most of it from an old matchbook ad for cigars.
BUT, the sentiment is kind of a comfort for the weekends that get washed out due to rain (which might happen this weekend)
Luckily, we’ve found a plethora of indoor and outdoor fun to attempt on Saturday and Sunday in Barrie! Including…
Fact: There is a never a weekend that passes without live music performances in town. Also Fact: We publish a full list of gigs on Tuesdays to insure you can find a show. Fact the third! This week is jammed with great gigs, including a couple of local up and comers and an 80s throwback at Mavrick’s Music Hall.
Now that the patios are open, you’ll be able to hear more of the great live tuneage happening at some of the great downtown establishments, so stop in and support a few of these local artists!
PADDLEFEST (WEATHER PERMITTING)
We know that MEC is a great place to shop, but we didn’t know they also liked to throw outdoor parties!
On Saturday the store are hosting a bash on the beach to welcome the 2019 paddling season.
This is a great idea if you or a famjam member has been thinking about diving into the world of kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding. You can go for a test paddle, learn skills from the experts, and browse exhibitor booths.
The event kicks off at 9am at Centennial Beach.
FATHER’S DAY FUN
The annual celebration of Dad happens on Sunday, and as usual, Barrie is replete with options to impress Pa.
J’adore/The Speakcheesy is hosting a Ploughman’s Dinner on Friday packed with hearty plates of cheeses, meats, mustards and pickled things.
Common Good Cafe is hosting a beer lovers night for all father figures, aptly called Man, Myth, Legend.
And Horseshoe Resort is offering free golf and a rare vehicle exhibit on Sunday.
