COMIC CON, CONCERTS AND BREWERY TOURS HAPPENING IN AND AROUND BARRIE THIS WEEKEND
There are few words that sound sweeter together than Long and Weekend.
And thanks to some guy named Jesus, we are upon the annual 4 day Easter long weekend! Although the stat holiday will see most places closed on Friday or Monday, there is still alot of egg infused fun to be had across Barrie.
Keep in mind that you can find them all listed, as well as events coming in the days ahead on our events page.
Don’t forget that we post a full calendar of concerts every week in Barrie. And we are ALWAYS on the lookout for local artist performances. If you are playing anywhere in town, fire the deets to [email protected] We’ll be sure to post your gig!
On top of being Easter, it also happens to be 4/20 on Saturday. Which either means nothing to you or it means something big to you. To celebrate, the Foxx lounge is laying out a big weekend including local bands Cudbear opening for Hamilton’s NO BIG DEAL and Petting Faces.
That follows a big ticket at the Lounge on Friday featuring punk and metalcore from headliners The Northern. Supported as always by awesome local loud talent, including A Particle Apart and Midland’s Relapse.
Donaleigh’s has the Straits and the Royal Pains. And B Knox takes up his usual spot in the back room at Painter’s Hall.
At last, a chance to wear your classic imitation Doctor Who coat and scarf!
Everyone has those in their closet….right?
Regardless, you can get your geek on at the East Bayfield centre on Saturday when Barrie’s Comic Con rolls into town. It’s actually the first of two cons this year, and it’s shaping up to be huge. Over 50 vendors will be on hand with an assortment of vintage toys, comics, games and plenty more nerdtastic collectibles.
Admission is just $5 for anyone over 12. And if you are attending, remember to bring a canned good or two (not lima beans though, c’mon) for donation to the Barrie Food Bank. Doors open at 10am.
BREWERY TOUR & EGG HUNT
As per usual, there are a basket full (get it…basket, Easter??) of Easter egg hunts in and around the city. But Redline Breweries are offering something a little more adult oriented.
On Saturday you can take a free tour of the brewery and participate in a grown up egg hunt. Think less chocolate and more suds and beverage.
There will be some giveaways for dinners and other goodies as well, but it’s only running from 1-5pm. So it’s best to book a reservation. Check their website for contact info.
BONUS UNCOVERED EVENT! EASTER @FRIDAY HARBOUR
Friday Harbour is always a great destination for long weekends and holidays, especially with the kids in tow.
And they’ve got a full program of Easter themed fun, beginning Friday and running right to Monday. Events include a petting zoo, an Easter egg hunt, Easter trivia, wagon rides, egg decorating, an Easter scavenger hunt.
It all kicks on Friday morning.
Have an event in Barrie that you want to promote? We want to hear about it! Send an email to [email protected] and we may post it!
