The Weekender – May 27th
The Weekender Is Powered by The The Queens Hometown Bar & Grill: The home of live music in Barrie and your destination for great food and great times!
Happening this weekend in the Barrie area…
Barrie Waterfront Festival
3 days of rides, live music, and fun for the kiddos returns to Centennial beach on Friday.
The Barrie Waterfront Festival is back, and it’s totally free to enter. The midway offers plenty of carnival-esque experiences, while the main stage plays host to bands and singers throughout the entire weekend.
In addition, you can forget about dinner plans, because food trucks and snack stalls will be packing out the streets.
It all kicks off on Friday.
Podcast It Up
With rain coming on Friday night, you might find your weekend startup pushed back a few hours, and relegated to the indoors.
Fortunately, there is plenty of cool content to stream whilst you are waiting out the downpour, including a plethora of podcasts originating in the Barrie area.
True crime junkies should have a listen to Whereabouts Unknown, hosted by local private investigator Ellen White. Furthermore, the ongoing series shines a spotlight on the stories of the missing and murdered in Canada. Particularly cases from around the region.
Another great entry to the podcast universe that is all about supporting the local scene is the aptly named Team Bayfleld – Support The Scene. Hosts Gillian and Richard interview local artists and engage in record shop talk for the pandemic age.
Moreover, we’ve got our collection of home spun creations. Cinema Smackdown and Uncover The Music, among others, are ready to satiate your streaming fix.
Pop Up Bottle Shop
The Wheeled Bottle shop on Clapperton hosts another craft beer experience Saturday through Sunday.
Besides being a great excuse to hit a patio, it’s a perfect time to head downtown and sample a new regional beer.
Trivia And Tunes @ The Queens
Of course, if you are too impatient for Friday to arrive, you can kick off the weekend early at the Queens tonight and try your hand at trivia.
Beginning at 7, it’s a chance to show off your useless knowledge skills, and earn eternal (or at least nightly) bragging rights as a quiz master.
Likewise, there is plenty of live music through the weekend at the Q.
And if you just don’t want the night to end, step over to the club side after 10pm, with DJs on the decks and more drink specials to be had.
