The Weekender: Jan. 21st
Winter’s grip has tightened this week. With whiteout conditions and frigid temps bearing down on us, it’s easy to hunker down and ride out the artic breeze.
But for those willing to brave the elements in search of distractions this weekend, there are options! Scroll on for a trio of ideas to make your Saturday to Sunday experience a fun one.
Live Music @ The 400 Market
Although concerts have been put into drydock temporarily, gigs are still a go at the 400 Market. The Indie Distributor series hosts acoustic performances from indie artists in their little corner of the Market on Saturdays and some Sundays.
It’s also live streamed on their social channels. And you can support the series and the artists through merch and music sales.
Hit Downtown
Speaking of markets, Barrie’s own is still going strong. Happening every Saturday from 8am to Noon in the Rotunda at city hall, you can load up on eats and treats from our local farms. The skating rink at the hall is open as well, if you have the urge to carve fresh ice.
Spend some time downtown while you are there and grab a hot chocolate or coffee. And if you are in the mood to treat yourself, pick up a brunch order of tasty Crepes from one of the region’s best.
Stream Local
Staying in when the mercury drops to sub-zero levels is understandable. And if your idea of excitement this weekend is wearing a dressing gown until 4pm, more power to you.
But while you are lounging in the cozy warmth of your domicile, check out these offerings from Barrie based content creators on your device. It’s a way to support local without leaving the living room.
