The Weekender: Dec. 3rd

Friday Harbour Tree Lighting & Market

The tree will be lit, the big man will be in attendance, and the vendors will be out in force on Saturday at Friday Harbour.

Rick Campanelli, who everyone under 40 will remember from Much Music, will be on hand to host. (Can we get him to take a few Much on Demand requests for old time’s sake?)

In addition to the market kick off, live music and plenty of sweet treats will be available through the weekend.

It all kicks off at 4pm.

Paint ‘Til You Faint

Creative Cafe hosts their annual ‘PAINT TILL YOU FAINT’ event on Saturday!

The artistically inclined can spend an evening at the cafe creating, making gifts, and getting in the spirit of the holidays. With limited space, you can register to secure your seat. Moreover, appetizers and drinks will be served, with prizes to be won.

Podcast It Up

Maybe you’re more inclined to stay in this weekend. If so, an audio adventure or two can be an invigorating exercise during your downtime.

In need of a laugh? Stream a few episodes of Cinema Smackdown, featuring our resident comedians Mike and Fraser. And (spoilers!) there is a new entry coming this Saturday. (Think the Dark Knight and Christmas)

True crime junkies should have a listen to Whereabouts Unknown, hosted by local private investigator Ellen White. The ongoing series shines a spotlight on the stories of the missing and murdered in Canada, particularly cases from around the region.

And hockey fans can check in with The Very Barrie Colts pod, hosted by super fans and general hockey geeks, Ryan Noble and Ryan McArthur.
