3 Free Events in Barrie



Spare room is a new shared artist studio in the downtown core, and this Thursday marks their grand opening.

Get a sneak peak at some of their artists process, as well as live music, snacks and a raffle to win local prizes.


Creative Barrie and the City present Nature In Winter, a one-day free educational experience showcasing all the amazing natural beauty that the Winter in Barrie has to offer! Happening at Sunniale park to kick off Family Day weekend. The day will feature nature-based Winter Play, nature crafts, a guided Owl Prowl and more.

Scouts Canada, Barrie Native Friendship Centre, Georgian college and others will be on hand with exhibitions and games for all ages.


Ice Carving Competition

Friday Harbour rolls out the Family Day red carpet this weekend, with a plethora of famjam friendly activities.

Among the events is a professional ice carving competition, with teams chainsawing it out for $3000 in prizes.

There’s also a vendor market on the Boardwalk and live music performances by ‘Shipyard Kitchen Party and ‘Strange Potatoes on the Compass Stage. Stick around for the evening and close out Saturday with a fireworks show.
