The Best Drive In Theatres Near Barrie

There aren’t many outdoor activities that spell summer like the Drive In. Big screen, snacks, watching flicks in your pajamas; it all adds up to a perfect warm night experience for the fam-jam.

So, to prep cinephiles for this season of outdoor flicks, here’s a list of Drive Ins around the region to check out this summer!

    Sunset Drive In

Starting in our own backyard, Sunset Drive In is on the edge of town. Last season and earlier this year they offered multiple movie nights through the year, as well as hosting the Barrie Film Festival.

    5 Drive In – Oakville

Tucked away in Oakville, The 5 Drive-in opened in 1964 as a single screen drive-in theater. A second screen was added sometime in the 1980’s and a third screen was later added in the early 2000’s.

The drive-in is now owned and operated by the Premier Theater chain which owns several other drive-in theaters in Canada.

    The Stardust – Newmarket/East Gwillinbury

Halfway between Toronto and Barrie, the Stardust offers first run flicks, as well as classic movie nights. Perfect stopping off point on the way to or from the cottage to wrap up or start a weekend.

    Ontario Place

In the heart of Toronto’s lakeshore, Ontario Place is one of the better city bound screen experiences. And with admission being only $10 per person, it’s an affordable way to spend an evening with those in your bubble while getting out of the house.

Last year, in addition to movies, the theatre showed Raptors playoff games, so assuming the Leafs actually win a series this year, fans might get the chance to watch them move on on the big screen.

    Muskoka

Located at 1001 Theatre road on Hwy 11 in Gravenhurst, the Muskoka Drive in ideal for a night out whilst at the cottage.

Running shows right through the weekends during the warm season, they’ve got two screens with new releases and classics. You can find out what’s playing online or through their 24 hour hotline.

The Editorial Spread- Blast From the Past Date Night

Last month we took a trip down memory lane. This month we kept the momentum going and went even further back… to the 1950s. And what better time frame is there when it comes to date night?
