Oh, you came here looking for a pot of gold, did ya? What if we told you that on St. Patrick’s Day THIS Sunday there is approximately $94, 000 to be won? It’s true, my wee friends! But first, follow us on a tour of all the lucky charms that Barrie has to offer! (Then we’ll reveal the 94K pot of gold and where it is to be found!)
Whether or not you are Irish, makes no difference when it comes to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Truth be told, EVERYONE is Irish by default on St. Patrick’s Day. We would recommend wearing something fekkin’ green, though. Any Barrie dollar store will have a good selection of fekkin’ green hats and glasses that will put you in the mood for the nights celebrations. Let’s start with something different.
Five Ways to Celebrate St.Patrick’s Day that doesn’t Involve Beer – Psych!
We don’t know 5 ways. We do know something that includes the number 10. How about finding the Hooter’s Pot O’Gold with 10 wings you pay for and then the other 10 are free? Special for all Barrie leprechauns on March 17th. Plan to dine in. So okay, you’ve got your hunger fix down. Are you ready to do something a little different?
Fekkin’ Green Beer and Kermit the Frog on St. Paddy’s Day
Okay, we lied. It’s about the fekkin’ green beer. Kermit the frog is just green and it isn’t easy being green all year round. We like our beer blonde, or pale or even amber. On this Irish day of celebration though – we like it GREEN! How about going a little out of the way from downtown, and getting your party started at The Bull & Barrel Pub on Cedar Pointe Drive? They are planning live music, Irish inspired food and your favourite, green pints. Does drinking fekkin’ green beer make you a vegetarian?
Pace Yourself and be Lucky
Alright, you are just finishing up at The Bull & Barrel Pub and you have to ask yourself a question. Where to next? Well, the subtitle says pace yourself and we gotta admit, that’s a good plan. So why not head over to Perplexcity and chill while you wait for all your friends to gather at your next spot? You could do an escape room, or not. You could play some board games. Perplexcity has just the right sort of atmosphere for you to take a breather before you are ready to roar. Read about them HERE and decide for yourself.
Show me the Money!
“94 K magic in the air, head to toe so player, Uh, look out! POP POP, it’s showtime!” Did you read that or sing it? Here’s the low down on the money. Barrie Legion. Yes, Barrie Legion. We know that it’s not your regular place to stop in and maybe not even your crowd but ummm, $94,000 dollars? The Barrie Legion has been doing a catch the ace draw. Basically, you walk in, (you don’t have to be a member to buy a ticket) and there will be someone sitting at a table selling tickets for $5. You buy a ticket, pick an envelope number and that’s it. This St. Patrick’s Day is the next draw and the Pot O’Gold could be yours. Why not stop in and buy a ticket?
Irish Pub Fare and Drooling Rainbows
End of night fun for the night that never ends. Go to Barnstormer Brewing and Distilling Co. No, really. Go there! They’ll have live music all day and a special Irish pub menu that will literally have you drooling rainbows. (they said it first) We are very curious about their Irish Grilled Cheese with Corned Beef and Pickles. Would you pretty please take a pic of yours, and tag us? #barrieuncovered
There you go, wee friends! If we’ve taught you anything, remember this on St. Paddy’s day – You didn’t choose the mug life, the mug life chose you! CHEERS!
