St. Paddy’s Weekend At The Queens
If ever there was a year to extend St. Patrick’s day through a weekend, it’s this one.
After the last two muted celebrations of the Irish holiday in Barrie, St. Paddy’s is coming back with a vengeance, beginning tonight.
And the Queen’s has got you covered right through to Sunday.
Live music kicks off the shenanigans today at 3, with Lookout Nelson and the Fred Grant Squares taking the stage. The tunes continue through to Saturday.
Green beer, Guinness and Irish whisky will be at the forefront throughout the entire weekend. And with the temps going in the right direction, the heated patio will be open.
And after 9pm on Friday and Saturday (if you are still standing) you can step over to the club side for more late night antics.
Home Made Irish Drinks
No matter how committed you are to the cause, pub crawling for the entire weekend is a mountain most can’t climb. Taking a half-day off to rehydrate and regroup might be a necessity.
If you need a low-key afternoon before heading back into the trenches but want to preserve your imbibing schedule, consider a selection of softer Irish bevies you can create at home.
Start the morning off right with an Irish coffee or a green Bloody Mary (you don’t need any green dye here, just tomatillos).
The nutty Irishman, Irish Mules and Mint Mojitos are colorful, luscious selections to accompany you as you recharge the batteries through the day. With a bit of zip, but not the wallop that a shot of Jameson’s packs, they are just the cocktails you need to ease into the nightly sessions.
And be sure to sample a few of the Queen’s cocktails!
