Reel Stories Returns To The Big Screen
Reel Stories, the Barrie Film Festival’s series dedicated to documentaries and dramas inspired by true events and real people, returns to the big screen this week.
Taking over theatres in their new home at the south end Galaxy Cinemas, this year’s catalogue of flicks includes nine movies.
Ranging from a documentary about foodie icon Julia Child to a gripping drama/comedy detailing the struggle of a Syrian newcomer to acclimate to life in Nova Scotia, Reel Stories challenges audiences to discover extraordinary things about the world through film.
This year’s lineup also includes Oscar-worthy selections. Flee, an animated doc, has been nominated for three Academy Awards.
True crime lovers will enjoy the Lost Leonardo. A fascinating inside story behind the Salvator Mundi, the most expensive painting ever sold.
The festival kicks off on Thursday and runs right through to Sunday. Tickets are only $10 for adults.
