There is no way around it.
It might not be officially done…but as of Monday night summer is OVER.
Time to remember what day of the week it is…to tearfully shove your sandals to the back of the closet…to switch from vodka to whisky.
Luckily summer 2019 is going out with a bang and not a whimper! Continue scrolling to find a few things to do to stave off the end of the sunny season.
4 Things To Do in Barrie This Weekend
MACBETH IN A BACKYARD
We chatted with Iain Moggach and Marissa Caldwell, the main players putting on this ambitious production last week. It’s Shakespeare in the park with a Barrie twist! Capacity is about 40 so it’s best to get tickets in advance.
FARMER’S MARKETS & CONCERTS
The Barrie Farmer’s Market continues their outdoor season until October, with loads of fresh goodies and vendors. And the artisan market is in full swing, which offers you a chance to buy locally made way cool creations.
On the concert front, the Foxx welcomes one of the more…intriguing…musical acts you are likely to see anytime soon. The Faps are a Saskatchewan based punk/metal/acid jazz duo who give Weird Al a run for his money on the bizarre music front. Worth the price of admission, just to see what might happen.
Keep in mind you can always see a list of gigs in town on our events calendar.
PARACHUTE CHAMPIONSHIPS, END OF SUMMER FESTIVALS
There’s also a crap ton of events happening a few clicks outside of Barrie. Including, death defying jumping out of a plane competitions in Wasaga Beach, where Skydive Wasaga Beach is hosting the 2019 Canadian National Parachuting Competition.
If Sunflowers are more your bag, Rounds Ranch in Elmvale is serving up their first ever Sunflower Festival.
– A Wagon ride out to the Sunflower Field
– Photos with the Sunflowers
– Pick your own sunflower to take home.
BONUS BONUS EVENT!
And for those feeling the need for fireworks, Blue Mountain presents Summer Sundown 2019. You can bid the season farewell with live music, hiking, biking and gondola rides !
