Barrie Film Festivals Presents Free Screening to Celebrate Canadian Film Day
Wednesday marks 100 years of Canadian cinema. (Any movie buffs know the first Canadian movie ever? Answer below)
And to celebrate the centennial anniversary, the Barrie Film Festival is presenting a totally free screening of You Are Here. It’s a documentary about the Gander, Newfoundland residents who took in the 6000+ American airline passengers grounded on the Rock after 9/11. h
The film is inspired by the smash hit musical Come From Away. It includes interviews with the townsfolk and the passengers.
On top of the film, there will be a Q and A with the movie’s director, Moze Mossanen. Showtime is 7pm at the Uptown Theatre. And being a free show you might want to get there early.
Canada’s first feature film was Evangeline. Produced by the Canadian Bioscope Company in 1913.
