Barrie Uncovered Escape Rooms

Entertainment in Barrie: Escaping from the Regular

Searching for entertainment in Barrie that’s more than just the same old thing can be difficult, and interesting and interactive events can be hard to come by. Situations where you’re working together with your team encourages collaboration, and further communication and problem solving skills.

Barrie Uncovered has the answer to your hum drum nights out: Perplexcity Escape Rooms and Board Game Lounge on Cedar Park Drive in Barrie. What is an Escape Room, you may ask? It is an adventure game where you have to solve a series of puzzles and riddles to escape the room. You will have clues and hints to help you solve the puzzles.  You’ll need to work as a team and come up with a strategy to complete them within the hour you have to escape. One thing to mention: you are not actually locked in the room!

Perplexcity’s four escape rooms have different degrees of difficulty.  They have, from easiest to hardest:

  1. Lost Jewel of Zanzibar
  2. Curse of the Evil Genie
  3. Blackbeard’s Brig
  4. Cypherspace

Fun Team Building Attractions near Barrie

Perplexcity has been under new management since January 2019.  Brian, Adam or Dave will more than happy to answer any question you may have and are in the process of re-booting the rooms with the intention of making the rooms more immersive with technology.  They plan to have a new room to open in 2-3 month’s time. They also have a board games area with pool, hoops and ping pong.  If you like board games, they have a good selection, so have a beer, relax and have fun the old fashioned way!

It is a great place for a group of friends, bachelorettes, stag nights, or for companies to have corporate team building events.  The rooms accommodate 8-10 people depending on the room, but the owners say ideally it should be 6-7 people. For larger corporate events you can hire out the whole of Perplexcity for which the capacity is 100. A popular option is to have your date night at Perplexcity, it’s a good way to learn about your partner…if you’re brave enough!

Perplexcity is ideal for kids 12 and up and adults. But make sure you try the easier rooms first!  Perplexcity has a liquor license and a menu of pub favourites, like wings, burgers, and poutine. They also have 55 cent Sunday Wings specials.

The Perplexcity team are working on new initiatives to improve the experience.  Some of the events they are considering for the near future are:

  • Live bands
  • Karaoke nights
  • Comedy nights
  • Theme night e.g. Paint Nights
  • Contests, who can eat the hottest wings and how many wings can you eat in 3 minutes.

So, if you want a night out away from the normal try Perplexcity.  They have an easy to use online booking calendar, just pick you date and time and book.
