Cosplayers and fans are taking over the East Bayfield Centre for Barrie ComiCon later this month to support the local Food Bank. If you’re looking for things to do in Barrie, break out those superhero capes and head to 80 Livingstone St East on Saturday, April 20th for a day full of cosplay, magic, and wonder. Pop Culture Canada is bringing ComiCon to Barrie once again and it’s sure to be fun for everyone.
Superheroes (and Villains) Galore
Not only is cosplay allowed, it’s super encouraged! You can dress up as your favourite Avenger or just spend the day admiring all the awesome costumes at Barrie ComiCon. Make sure to bring your camera too. We’ve been told there will be lots of cosplayers around for photo ops and even some members of the 501st – A group of dedicated fans who dress in highly realistic costumes of your favourite Star Wars villains.
The Place for Geeky Shopping
Are you looking for a necklace with your Hogwarts house on it, a poster from your favourite superhero movie or some original art? You’ve got a good chance of finding it all from any of the wide variety of vendors that will be exhibiting their work across almost 50 tables at Barrie ComiCon. Comic books, toys, jewelry and so much more will be available from the rows of vendor tables.
As well as vendors, you’ll have the chance to see a number of artists and authors including local comic book artist Loc Nguyen. This is your chance to get your hands on Auroraman #0 with Nguyen’s art on the cover. The book will be limited to just 50 copies and you’ll have the opportunity to get it signed by Nguyen at the event for just $10.
All for a Good Cause
While this event should be a blast, it’s not just fun for fun’s sake. This whole event is a charity fundraiser for the Barrie Food Bank. For every non-perishable food item you bring in, you’ll be entered into a raffle for more than a dozen prizes donated by the amazing vendors in attendance. Don’t miss out on your chance to enter and support a good cause.
