If you’re up at night trying to figure out how to make your dream job a reality, then the Barrie Career Centre is the place for you. Some people don’t know what their dream job is, and need coaching and training resources, while others have a vivid idea and just need a little push to get there.
First off, ask yourself if that dream job is hands on, or in the service industry, or behind a computer? Or are you a brainiac and the power of your mind can make you millions? Well if you’re like us, you’re about a million dollars short of being a millionaire. You’ll need to have a killer resume, and a clue or two.
Steps to finding a Job in Barrie
So how do you get a clue when writing your resume? How do you take plain black and white, and try to make it colourful? Agreed, it’s not as easy as it sounds. The Barrie Career Centre can certainly help you out, but your first stop on the road to your dream job is defining what the purpose of your resume is:
- To land your dream job, of course. This will be your prospective employer’s first impression of you and you’ll definitely want to stand out. (Not everyone prints their resume on perfumed pink paper)
- Self advertisement. You are trying to sell yourself on paper so don’t be shy! You can do it! Use power words.
- Lay it all on the table. Make a list of all your experience, details on your skills, education, and work history. Resumes can also have sections such as an objective, summary statement, skills, or career highlights. Those sections can be added after you’ve compiled all the factual information you need to list on your resume.
Alright, well now we have the bare bones of our resume and we want to put it all together. This is where we suggest you get some help. Make an appointment and go into the Career Centre in Barrie.
