3 Weekend Happenings in Barrie
With the first official day of Fall happening earlier this week, we can officially turn our focus from soaking up the sun to soaking up warm treats. Yup, pumpkin spice everything season is here, as is a trio of ideas for some weekend fun.
And if you have a cool event or two coming up this season, be sure to let us know so we can include it in our calendar and our weekly newsletter!
The 24th annual festival is a scaled down version, with fewer movies and of course no galas. But the BFF has partnered with Sunset Drive In to screen a terrific selection of independent flicks over the course of four days. The festival kicks off tonight, with the Michael Caine led drama Best Sellers.
Also back will be the Short Film competition, which showcases films from local directors and international productions vying for prizes, happening Saturday. Screenings happen every day until Sunday!
Soup It Up
With Autumn’s arrival, foodies can begin the annual rite of trading in their grill spatulas for ladles. A piping hot soup and a warm drink are the perfect combo on a brilliantly chilly fall day, and Barrie has a plethora of places to get your soup on at.
And if Seinfeld taught us anything, it’s that mastery of even a simple soup is essential for chefs everywhere.
Bohemia, Lazy Tulip and Symposium are just a few of the local eateries that can quench your hot meal thirst.
Hello Fall Shopping @ Friday Harbour
As if you needed another excuse to hit Friday Harbour? The Mama & Mimi Co. are back at the Resort for a vendor market on the lower boardwalk. Featuring 20 vendors, food trucks and live music, it’s an ideal way to ring in the harvest season.
Keep in mind that the resort has a terrific assortment of trails, and that golf season is far from over. If you are headed to the Harbour you can make it a full day with a round of 18 and walk in the woods.
