As the weekend approaches, the city by the Lake gears up for another noteworthy entertainment adventure. This Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Barrie feature fine dining, live music and the city’s renowned winter festival. Fittingly named one of Ontario’s top 100 Events an Festivals, Winterfest takes over Barrie’s downtown core this weekend. Offering an abundance of delicious snow themed dishes and ice inspired events, the two day celebration is ideal for the entire family. Among the more popular events is the annual Battle of the Chainsaws, pitting professional ice carvers against one another in an epic ice carving battle. It simply wouldn’t be a weekend in Barrie without a slew of great gigs. Friday night sees the Foxx Lounge play host to a four act set including local prog rockers Asskan, as well as acoustic artist Megan Anne. Down the street Donaleigh’s has Get The Funk Out, while Swirleez continues it’s Friday night Live series.
Barrie’s annual culinary journey through the city’s best eateries wraps up this Sunday. It’s a last chance to sample a host of noteworthy full-course meals prepared by local chefs. Above all, you can do it for great prices – ranging from $15 – $30. Furthermore, the two-week event includes new menus exclusive to Barrielicious as well as multiple opportunities to win prizes.
