3 Weekend Barrie Happenings
Among the many advantages of a long weekend is the abbreviated distance between your work week and the customary two day sabbatical. So go ahead and make your plans for the Saturday-Sunday break. We’ve got a three spot of ideas to make sure your downtime fires on all cylinders.
Summer is zipping along at bullet train speed, with fewer and fewer opportunities to soak up the sun. If you haven’t already, make one of Barrie’s sandy coves a destination this weekend. If you are in need of inspiration, hit up last week’s Beach Bum guide for a blueprint on how best to make the most of the lakeshores.
And don’t forget about Splash Works; the inflatable obstacle course at Centennial beach, giving kids the chance to channel their inner Olympian.
If full on beaches aren’t your bag, a splash pad is a handy, watery alternative to defeat the heat. Here in Barrie, the pads at Lampman park and Centennial are both flowing, with plenty of others across the region.
As malls and retailers around town enjoy the return of in person shoppers, Dress For Success is also ramping up again. This weekend they are back with a Toonie sale at the Bayfield mall. You can stop by and shop affordable professional women’s clothing & accessories for just $2/piece.
The sale runs Friday and Saturday, and the they are always on the lookout for donations and contributions. Hit up their website to learn more.
TIFT Bees In The Bush
Although in person performances aren’t quite back yet, we’re lucky enough to have theatre in the park this summer with Talk Is Free Theatre’s production of I&I.
Staged in multiple locations in Sunnidale Park, the play is an immersive, and unique interactive experience featuring international artists and local thespians. The world premier happens tomorrow, with shows through the weekend. And tickets are free! Head over to TIFT’s site to book your place.
