3 Things To Do This Weekend
Now that the kids are finally, mercifully fully out of school (goodbye online, asynchronous and every other -nous type of learning) it’s time to tear into summer.
Beaches, splashpads and swimming pools are all open and ready to serve, as are parks and playgrounds. In like manner, this weekend offers additional antics you can get up to, as we slowly move to full re-opening.
Here’s a trio of things to try when 5pm on Friday hits…
Attend an Interactive Ghost Story
Theatre By The Bay has launched their season, and first up is a cool, augmented reality show called the Ghost Watchers.
The show is presented as a thrilling walking tour throughout the streets of Downtown Barrie that mixes live theatre with Spectrovision Augmented Reality technology. Seven souls, seven stories, all waiting to be heard.
Moreover, performances run right through the month. Get tickets on TBTB’s website!
Take In the Footie Final
The finals of the Euro Cup 2020 (yes, they are still calling it that even though it’s 2021) goes on Sunday, as England takes on Italy. It’s the first time England has been in a international championship game in 55 years. If you are in need of a big screen, Malone’s Pint House has a massive TV in their patio (weather permitting).
Prefer to stay in? Be sure to hit up a craft brewer for a can of summer suds to upgrade your game watching experience. And it’s a good idea to have booze on hand in the event your team doesn’t win… for the drowning of sorrows.
Hit the Library
From the “don’t know what you have until it’s gone” file, the Barrie public library is back! Having officially re-opened on Monday, you can once again browse and borrow, or just find a cozy spot to read.
Furthermore, this is great news if you are among the work from home crowd. The library’s free wifi and quiet nooks make for a perfect escape from the Zoom rooms in your abode.
