The Social Recap – The Week That Was Apr. 12th

Yeah, it’s been a hard week. But one thing that doesn’t change in Barrie despite lockdowns and shutdowns is the terrific connection to nature we can experience without having to drive for hours.

Nothing warms the heart like community spirit, and it was on full display last week with donations to the Barrie food bank from local contractors and our friends at Skewers!

In need of a fun distraction? And seriously, who isn’t in need of a fun distraction these days? Check out Mindbuster’s new virtual escape room!

A Penny (Farthing) for your thoughts? Great to see so many bikes on the city’s paths…especially unique rides like this one!

And as the bikes come out, so soon will the boats! Can’t wait to see the likes of these water vehicles in the days ahead…

Speaking of being on the water, is there a better picture than the sun disappearing for the night on the lake?

And finally, did you take a stroll post-rain yesterday? Barrie was doing it’s best Middle Earth impression along the boardwalk…

How about a little love for the amazing weather we’ve enjoyed since April arrived? You can’t exactly buy Mother Nature a coffee but maybe just a wink at the sun will suffice!

Among the many reasons to check out Barrie’s vibrant downtown, is the abundance of cool street art. Including this inspired image at the Spare Room!

Ever had the desire to just…fly away from it all? Assuming you aren’t Green Lantern, that’s not an option. But the next best things is taking in some amazing aerial photography, like these drone shots from barries.drone.pilot….

And speaking of great images…

And finally, did you know that Ontario’s smallest pub just opened in Barrie? The Wheeled Brew opened it’s tiny doors this week and you can check them out on Clapperton, right next door to our friends at Skewers!

NOTHING looks better than downtown as the snow vanishes…

Well, maybe one thing that looks better is the Spirit Catcher at night…

Sunday wasn’t the best for getting outside, and this image really summed up the day with a moody black and white snap.

We all can’t wait to get back to the beach for the regular beach activities, but as this cool video demonstrates, swimming isn’t the only thing we can get up to at Centennial!

And finally, anytime you can welcome a new business to downtown is a good day, but when the that business happens to be a brewer, it’s like Christmas has come early. Welcome Wheeled Brew!

Rock climbing indoors is a a great activity to enjoy. But we bet you’ve never seen how they actually put those vertical courses together!

Spring has sprung (yeah…we know, that’s like the 200th time you’ve read that this week) And the warmer weather makes for a great incentive to head downtown and enjoy the many great local businesses in the city’s core!

Speaking of downtown, here’s a cool sketch of a moment in time…

And did we mention those patios opening up? Sun and beer never looked so good together!
