Liner Notes: New Tunes From 30 Going on 13

NEWS AND NOTES FROM THE BARRIE MUSIC SCENE

30 Going on 13 have been busy for the last 6 months.

October saw the release of their album The Best 3p We’ve Ever Made, followed by monthly gigs in around Barrie and more studio time. Plus some bad skittle/beer experiences.

This weekend they return to the Foxx lounge to debut their new single Dear Kimberly. (It actually had a early preview on 89.1 Max FM’s Punk show, hosted by local punk/rock aficionado Amanda Dyke.)

Dear Kimberly hits all the usual streams Friday. And their show at the Foxx is only $5/door to hear it live.

Liner Notes: The Noolands Too Close Debuts

NEWS AND NOTES FROM THE BARRIE MUSIC SCENE

After some well crafted teasing, Barrie’s favourite Gypsy folk rock sons have delivered their new single (and video) Too Close.

Debuting on the streams, the song is another Barrie-centric collaboration with a boat load of local talents. Recorded and mixed at Mix11 Studios by Daryl Sarnat, with help on the mastering side from Noah Mintz.

And lovers of mini-putt will recognize the indoor course on Commerce Park road as the backdrop for the video (shot by Barrie based video crew Sproutwise)

Here’s what the Noolands had to say about this latest release…

“This song has been a major full circle moment for our band. It’s taken us five years to really figure out our flow and it feels as if something important has clicked recently. See, we’re always being wound up by the world around us and then we have to come together so we can write music. There’s so much noise out there in our lives , we don’t need to put anymore pressure on each-other. You can lose sight of all the good things happening around us.

The support we have from everyone and the reflection we’ve done into the past has really put things into perspective. If we stick together, grow as friends, keep learning new skills and help each other be the best 5 individuals we can in life, then the music and all that will take care of itself. Too Close feels like the end of a big chapter for our band and the future feels like a fresh start. Our writing has only increased and we can’t wait for what 2020 has in store!
Hit up the song and more on the Noo’s website.
