Get Behind the Eight-Ball with Alliance Billiards – Open!

And we’re off!  Alliance Billiards owner, Georgia Makrygiannis, was right behind the eight-ball to welcome you back!  However with our area being in the grey zone again…

Once patrons are able to come back in for pool…..  Alliance Billiards wants to let us know that if your team or group of friends wants to beef up their skills – they’ll take reservations for groups of 10.

It couldn’t get much better than that!

For those of us not that into the game – we’re still able to get the same great food and alcohol for eat in or pick-up and delivery.

Georgia was so thrilled at being able to welcome everyone back. She still wants you to know just how important you are!

Alliance is cleaning everything (Tables/balls/cues/etc.) with Microban, and will continue to do so once they’re able to re-open the tables.  Your safety is their first concern!

Alliance is still running their daily specials, has family sized trays and does catering as well!

Take-Out Menu @ Simmering Kettle – Included A Recipe To Cook @ Home

One of Barrie’s favorite Restaurateurs has had to face the reality of the times recently.  Shalu Persaud, owner of Simmering Kettle and Dosti Eats has found a bold way to stay in business!

Shalu has closed the doors at Dosti Eats!  But wait!  She’s moved that business into the sister restaurant Simmering Kettle.  Thank Goodness!  Find the same great food – just across the parking lot at 531 Bryne Dr.

Shalu would like to thank her landlord, A.S. properties, managed by Kirkwood Properties for making the move as easy and seamless as possible.  Shalu states, “It’s wonderful how everyone is pulling together in such strange times!”

NEW HOURS TO SERVE YOU BETTER

Simmering Kettle/Dosti Eats is open for business Monday – Saturday from 9am-8pm and on Sunday from 9am-7pm for pickup and delivery

Shalu would like everyone to know that she’s offering some great new services as well.  There are very affordable weekly specials, as well as – wait for it….

Grocery Packages custom tailored for pick up (no more line ups!  Call Shalu and order your meat/veggies/fruit/bread/milk and eggs!)

            As well as tray service.

These new offerings are certainly added bonuses to the great regular menu options!  For anyone inquiring about the new available services, please call Simmering Kettle.

Shalu sends us a wonderful new recipe to try out as well.  Have some fun with this one and keep your eye out for more to come!

EAT YOUR WAY RIGHT ACROSS THE COUNTRY!

EAT YOUR WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY!

ARE YOU A "FOODIE"?

From one coast to another there are a lot of “foodies” in Canada.  We have such cultural ethnicity.  The other thing that we have is an extremely diverse landscape with each Province and Territory offering up their own uniqueness.  On top of that we have our local areas which have many different menus to tantalize us even further.

Starting on the East Coast we can try everything from a Jigg’s Dinner, Lobster Rolls to Screech Rum.  As we head into Quebec we all seem pretty familiar with Poutine, maple syrup and tortierre.

It’s in Ontario where things become a little different.  Here we are certainly known for our outstanding wineries and craft breweries, but our favorite foods are as diverse as the population!  We have our seasonal treats like corn on the cob or garden fresh toasted tomato sandwiches, however as food goes – I think our diversity shines in our “street eats”.

If  you were to Google the favorite food in Toronto you’d likely find it’s a veal sandwich, Ottawa – Beaver Tails, Barrie – Skewers, a Korean BBQ restaurant and so on.  We have different flavors on every corner it seems.

As we head into Manitoba it becomes very particular again.  There you’d find mouth watering pickerel most often pan-fried with a bit of butter.  Saskatoon actually got it’s name from the all-important Saskatoon berry either made into a pie or jam.  Alberta is beef, beef, and more beef, with Vancouver being salmon and of course Nanaimo bars.  In Nunavut we find the somewhat strange Muktuk (fried whale) or, surprisingly…Shwarma!  Finally in the northwest Territories we are told Artic Char and game meats such as caribou and muscox are the favorites.

Travelling through Canada is divine for “foodies”.  We have so many very unique tastes to savor.  Again though, I have to say how nice it is to be in Central Ontario – Barrie to be exact.  I love our diverse menu offerings.  There are so many exciting flavors!  One of the “favs” for sure is the Korean Street Food found at Skewers, just up from Downtown at 9 Clapperton Street.  Don’t take my word for it though – go ahead – try it for yourself!
