Mics Hot: Barrie Recording Studios

Mics Hot: Barrie Recording Studios

Regular readers of this space already know that the growing Barrie Music Scene is killing it with original artists and talented performers.

And that talent extends behind the microphone.

Barrie is stacked with independent recording studios. Although recording software and equipment is readily available for you to use in your garage, there’s no substitute for quality. And the experience of working in a studio with a veteran producer can only help to elevate your audio project.

Read on for some of the top studios in town.

MIX 11

Having worked with local artists like the Noolands and Bigfoot’s Hand and internationally known talent like Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara, Mix 11 offers mixing, recording and mastering.

Operated by Barrie’s resident Godfather of live music, Shane Heath (owner of the Foxx Lounge) One Star has worked with a ton of local artists as well, including Cudbear.

Speaking of staples of the Barrie music scene; mega talented performer, producer and all around amazing dude Shane L Dennis owns and operates Unity Market Studio.

Doubling as an outreach locale and a fantastic spot for a bite to eat or a coffee, the studio is a full range operation and has produced a ton of great work over the years.

Likewise, we had a chance to check out this new studio in the winter, owned and operated by music industry pro Caley Kelly.

Moreover, the casual atmosphere and high quality equipment makes for a creative environment, and Caley’s abilities were on full display when we partnered with YIKES! Comedy Troupe to produce a Xmas themed audio spoof at the studio.

The Non Lame V Day Playlist

The Non Lame V Day Playlist

We’re at it again!

Thanks to the glory of Spotify and Soundcloud, we’ve assembled another playlist featuring tunes from the killer local scene to help you celebrate a special day.

These are tracks for Valentine’s Day…but not necessarily of Valentine’s day.

Designed to be the soundtrack for a low key evening with your special someone; some of these tracks are melancholy, some are love songs, some are sad, some are pointed and some are just effin’ GOOD.

And if you’ve got some suggestions and tracks from the local scene that match up well, let us know!
