The Week That Was in Barrie Sep.14th

We have absolutely been starved for sports this year, so it was a welcome sight to see the Wolfpack get back on the court for ballhockey this past week!

Speaking of getting back to normal, it’s great to see some of the most impacted local services like barbershops be able to safely open their doors in recent weeks.

Everyone needs a little time to rebalance the scales. Great to see a couple of local talents get together for a outdoor event to that will give everyone a chance to refocus and recharge!

We know…nobody wants to hear about Christmas just yet, but keep in mind if you want to get some shopping done early this year that downtown is packed with cool stores to help cross some items of your list. Including the amazing selection of vintage gear @ BJ’s Records!

Won’t be long before the fountain at Centennial is shut down for the winter. Be sure to take a stroll or two along the boardwalk and bask in the (water) glow soon!

The Week That Was in Barrie Sep. 7th

That chill you feel in the air is the ominous first hint of Fall. Soon we’ll be clambering for snow tires and toques, so it’s all the more important to take advantage of the warm weather. Like golfing!

At this point, short of maybe robotic dinosaurs from another galaxy arriving to enslave us, there isn’t much 2020 can do to surprise us. So if someone were to come across a bubble wedding at Sunnidale park…it’s par for the course this year.

And finally, after a hectic week of back to school, we can all be forgiven in indulging in some comfort food for dinner. And there is nothing more comfortable than Poutine!

The Week That Was in Barrie Aug. 17th

Even though we had to say goodbye to alot of festivals and foodie events this year, it was terrific to see Ribfest return this weekend! The parking lot of Georgian Mall was awash in BBQ’d treats and grilled greatness.

Speaking of great food, it was a fantastic evening of samples and songs at Dosti Eats and the Simmering Kettle on Saturday where the talented Kat Chabot serenaded diners.

Did you know that the 400 Market is open again? Be sure to check out the local vendors for some socially distanced vintage shopping!

We never get tired of sharing awesome pics and videos of the sights in and around Barrie, but this might be the most cinematic shot of the Spirit Catcher we’ve ever seen!

And finally, it’s great to see new businesses and new retail locations arrive in town, despite the troubles we’ve all had in 2020. Welcome to Barrie Global Super Market!
