YOUR WEEKLY GUIDE TO BARRIE’S LIVE MUSIC SCENE
“If I cannot fly, let me sing.” ― Stephen Sondheim
As any veteran of Barrie’s live music scene will tell you, there aren’t many nights off here.
When you’re game for going out, the city by the Lake is guaranteed to have a gig for you every week. Whether you’re craving an alt rock blowout, an intimate jazz ensemble or a laid back acoustic set, Thursday through Saturday in Barrie are jammed with jams from local talent and edgy bands from across the region.

THE FOXX LOUNGE
It’s a first ever kind of vibe at the lounge this week, as Poland’s Cinemon makes their Barrie debut on Thursday. The trio have been kicking through the Euro scene since forming in 2006, with over 200 shows under their belt. It’s their first tour of Canada as they promote their fourth album, “Masters of Second Guessing”. Lovers of early 2000s alt and/or the grunge soaked Seattle sound of the 90s will really enjoy these guys.
Also on the ticket is Toronto’s Goodnight Sunrise. They’re coming in hot on the tail end of a cross Canada tour and have been scoring some great radio coverage of their new tune, Don’t Want It To End. If you like Muse, Chvrches or Haim, these guys are right in your wheelhouse. Newmarket’s Cigar Club and Sneaker Club (London) round out the ticket.
MORE FOXX LOUNGE
Friday it’s a quartet of LOUD, with Barrie’s 30 Going on 13 and Bigfoot Portal Crisis leading the way.
It’s a pre-festival set for both Bigfoot and 13, who are off to Gusapalooza this weekend.
Toronto’s Poor Violet and The Mendozaz round out the ticket. All four will be sporting merch pre show so be sure to pick up a few items if you can to support ’em!
Saturday London’s Mitch Tones Band headline. They’ve had a strong 2019; having reached the finals in the Montreal based Landmark Showcase and the semi-finals in the 97.7 Htz FM Rocksearch Competition. They hit Barrie on the heels of their self-titled EP debut, with lots of stellar gig reviews.
Backing them up are a couple of new (ish) Barrie bands, Blind Beauty and Invisible Giant. Blind Beauty just re-formed in January, but they’ve played the Lounge previoulsy and hit up Paganfest earlier in the summer.
Doors are 8pm!
