As any veteran of Barrie’s live music scene will tell you, there aren’t many nights off here.
When you’re game for going out, the city by the Lake is guaranteed to have a gig for you every week. Whether you’re craving an alt rock blowout, an intimate jazz ensemble or a laid back acoustic set, Thursday through Saturday in Barrie are jammed with jams from local talent and edgy bands from across the region.

THE FOXX LOUNGE
The lounge launches the week with a birthday! The Slyde celebrates 10 years of thrashing and melodic prog rock goodness. The Toronto metal band are coming off a big summer, including a performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany.
The group is humming along on the heels of their latest disc, Awakening (2018) while incorporating some legacy hits in their shows. And they know how to troll politicos….
Also on the ticket are GTA based Chasing Shadows and Barrie’s A Couple Anancies.
The ‘nancies are coming in hot off the release of a new single, Superstar Smile. They also kicked the door open on a new rock night in Barrie at PLAY! last week.
Chasing Shadows come to town in support of their debut EP, Reflections.

Friday it’s a passport infused metalcore show.
Black Tongue (England) The Machinist (New York) VCTMS (U.S.) and 156 Silence (Pittsburgh) represent the international team, while A Particle Apart and Being rep the Barrie scene.
Black Tongue headlines, a massively popular group in their local scene. They’ve gigged all over Europe this summer, supporting their 2018 disc Nadir.
The Machinist released an album in April, while VCTMS and 156 Silence pushed out EPs in 2018.
A Particle Apart just celebrated their one year album release, with hints of more tuneage to come soon.
Saturday it’s a music and photography fusion, as the Lounge celebrates Kalei Lynn’s birthday bash.
The Therapists roll in from the home of the big nickel to lead the way. It’s their last gig before retreating to the studio to record a new album.

Idol of Fear performs for the first time in 4 years. The Barrie quintet have been rehearsing and developing material since they last hit the stage, but this will be the first gig since 2016!
Barrie’s Djura (formerly Gora) and Toronto’s Bloody Blue Darlings round out the lineup.

Saturday – EVANGELINE GENTLE Peterborough-based (by way of Scotland) Gentle is a rapidly emerging acoustic artist that brings a lush vibrato to the mic. Gentle is only a few weeks removed from a self-titled debut (produced by Coax labels/Jim Bryson) that was written slowly over the course of three years.
