BARRIE CONCERTS THIS WEEK: YOUR WEEKLY GUIDE TO THE CITY’S LIVE MUSIC SCENE

“Without music, life would be a mistake”Nietzsche

As any veteran of Barrie’s live music scene will tell you, there aren’t many nights off here.

When you’re game for going out, the city by the Lake is guaranteed to have a gig for you every week. Whether you’re craving an alt rock blowout, an intimate jazz ensemble or a laid back acoustic set, Thursday through Saturday in Barrie are jammed with jams from local talent and edgy bands from across the region.

And if you’re an emerging group playing gigs in town, we want to hear from you! Send the finer points to [email protected] and we’ll post your shows here and on our events page.

Barrie Concerts This Week: Nov.11th

THE FOXX LOUNGE

Thursday – Getting your gigs palette whetted is a trio of loud and lit with  NOT THAT I CARE, STARSIGNS, 1+1=

FRIDAY – The weekend engages with a banger at the Lounge, as a quintuple of killers take the stage. Leading the way are The Anti-Queens (Newmarket/GTA) and Huntsville’s Cursed Arrows.

Arrows have been kicking around the scene for more than a decade (as a married guitar and drum duo! #relationshipgoals) and recently added an expanded rhythm section. Their most recent release (2018) is called Rebirth.

The Anti-Queens are coming in hot after a big year of international gigs and releases. They dropped their latest disc, Self Titled, in September. Snakes, who wins this week’s totally made up Best tagline of the week award with their Insta Description ( a collaboration of beer and vegetables in song format) Bad Dates (Hamilton) and Barrie’s Angry Spells round out the ticket. Doors @ 9pm!

Saturday – Rounding out the week is ticket rammed with Lounge newbies and an art show!

In addition to the gigs, Saturday will be host to an EPIC PRINT SALE. Come early and get in on the auctioning off all the current work on display in those sexy FOXXY FRAMES. There are over 40 works by 20 local artists up for grabs.

Musically, Brantford’s Ruby Revenge headlines the lineup, flanked by Barrie’s Hocksetter. Green Light District and System Status Red.
