When Music Hits You, You Feel No Pain” ― Bob Marley

As any veteran of Barrie’s live music scene will tell you, there aren’t many nights off here.

If you’re game for going out, the city by the Lake is guaranteed to have a gig for you every week. Whether you’re craving an alt rock blowout, an intimate jazz ensemble or a laid back acoustic set, Thursday through Saturday in Barrie are jammed with jams from local talent and edgy bands from across the region.

And if you’re an emerging group playing gigs in town, we want to hear from you! Send the finer points to [email protected] and we’ll post your shows here and on our events page.

Barrie Concerts This Week: July 29th include…

THE FOXX LOUNGE

The week at Barrie’s premier live music venue kicks off with the most notorious three digit event in town (and probably in the GTA)

666 Thursdays welcomes Winnepeg’s brotherly duo Alone I Walk to the lounge stage. They’re an Emo Pop act who have garnered big time industry attention through touring the U.S. in support of a couple of unique sounding EP’s.

Joining them are the alt rock pride of Moncton, New Brunswick. Motorleague have been kicking around for the better part of a decade and stop in to Barrie on a cross Canada tour. The East Coast punkers are a hearty blend of hardcore metal, and are (probably) the only band in Canada to promote an album by releasing their own video game

Barrie’s Aawks and Toronto’s One In The Chamber round out the ticket.

MORE FOXX LOUNGE

Friday – 5 for 5 brings out a quartet of Barrie’s up and comers to cover their fav artists.

Blink 182-Lach-182
Bouncing Souls-30 going on 13
The Used-Rosewood Annie
Nirvana-Cudbear
Black Sabbath

“nuff said.

Saturday – If loud isn’t your thing…maybe give the Lounge a miss as they close out the week.

But, we know loud IS your thing. So prepare to witness the self described “Multi-Layered Attack Of Pure Aggression, Scathing Melody And Lyrical Content” known as A Scar For The Wicked.

The Ottawa death metal group is in town to destroy the stage with tuneage from their EP The Unholy. (And with a name like A Scar For the Wicked, what else would we expect their album to be called?)

Adding to the amperage is Barrie’s Dead Beyond Fear and Pariah. And if these two don’t get the adrenaline flowing…you’re probably dead. Doors at 9pm!
