Watching Football on Sunday? Watch This Show First

Barrie’s Football Guru Joins Barrie Uncovered

If you have a rooting interest (as in, a financial stake) in this week’s slate of football games, we’re here to help you.

Barrie Uncovered is excited to welcome local football prognosticator Iron Bruce to our stable of talent.

Following a hostile takeover attempt, a failed corporate merger and several hours of hurling profanities in various watering holes across town, our intrepid President Ian finally convinced him to join the team.

It’s an impressive get. Iron Bruce is Barrie’s secret weapon in the realm of predictions. He’s been  podcasting picks for the last few years with ridiculously high accuracy rates.

And it’s entertaining! His humorous insights are a welcome alternative to the stiff banter of the hundreds of analysts huddled around panel desks regurgitating stats and graphs.

You can see some of Iron Bruce’s previous shows right here.

The first stream of the season goes on our FB page Sunday at 11am.

All The Good (And Occasional) Bad of What Went Down in Barrie Last Week

There are three certainties in life…

Social media.

And if you are tweeting, posting and talking about Barrie on social media, we want to hear from you! Every week we will do a quick recap of the week that was in Barrie based on your pics, posts and videos.

Whether it’s concerts, store openings, foodie reviews, feelgood stories, fun facts about Barrie, even bizarre bird formations over the marina, we want to share it.

It was a great week for local musicians helping local causes, with one of the biggest gatherings of Barrie based talent on Sunday for Paige’s Passion Music Fest at Mavrick’s. @michaelf.mcdougall took everyone backstage with this great shot.

And another of Barrie’s great local acts, Sophie and the Gentles, were happy to announce a set at the upcoming Celebrate Barrie festival!

Have you tried Yoga? How about AcroYoga? Yeah, we are willing to bet you have never heard of it! But a local crew teaches this waycool version of the ancient practice every Thursday at Mantiques!

Now that we are finally getting some decent weather, the colours are mercifully returning to the gardens and streets around town. Have a look at this stunning image from @harshcore that sums up the Spring.

To Yoga or Not to Yoga

Try something new!

It’s a fair question. How is it that yoga has been on the rise since forever, yet if you are like Stephen, you’ve never tried it? Maybe you don’t think you are flexible enough? To be honest, you don’t have to be a human pretzel – you just have to be willing to try. Take a watch as our roving reporter, Stephen Elliot hilariously gives yoga a chance. Special thanks to Sarah Melody from Anahata Yoga in Barrie for putting Stephen through the paces. (If you are looking for alternative forms of fitness in Barrie, take a look HERE for some great suggestions.)
