THE BEST OF BARRIE’S CONCERTS THIS WEEK
“Music Is To The Soul What Words Are to the Mind” – Modest Mouse
As any veteran of Barrie’s live music scene will tell you, there aren’t many nights off here.
If you’re game for going out, the city by the Lake is guaranteed to have a gig for you every week. Whether you’re feeling an alt rock blowout, an intimate jazz ensemble or a laid back acoustic set, Thursday through Saturday in Barrie are jammed with jams from local talent and edgy bands from across the region.
Happening this week on the stage in Barrie…
THE FOXX LOUNGE
THURSDAY – Assuming everyone has recovered sufficiently from the double whammy of a long weekend and 4/20, the Foxx should be packed for another invigorating slate of shows. And as always it’s kicking off with sTs Promotions New Music Thursday.
This week it’s a blend of folk and alternative, including 30 Dollar Weekend. Beside being surf rock aficionados, they are allegedly the only band in Ontario to boast an 8 foot tall lineup. Defo worth a visit to see if they “live up” to the billing.
They are joined by Cakeface out of London, Group Therapy of no fixed address and Ten Minute Detour.
MORE FOXX LOUNGE
FRIDAY – 53rd & 3rd Shows take the lead on Friday, who bring the noise (literally) with a ticket jammed with metal and heavy alternative acts from across the province.
Newmarket’s Ship of Fools starts things off, fresh off a new album as they get ready to play the coveted Pouzza Fest later this summer. Also in town is Toronto’s Chainfall, one of a select few who had the chance to play the legendary El Mocambo stage. Rounding out the night are Oshawa’s The Corporate Life and Newmarket’s Razorbath.
SATURDAY – One of Barrie’s favourite bands, The Noolands, returns to the Lounge with a brand new single to tease.
If you haven’t seen the Noolands before, it’s a gypsy/folk/rock/ treat that does not disappoint. Also, they’re funny. Like, really funny.
Joining them are Argentina’s finest imports Harm and Ease, with Oh Geronimo opening. Doors at 9pm.
