THE BEST OF BARRIE CONCERTS THIS WEEK
“Music Is The Moonlight in the Gloomy Night of Life” – Jean Paul Richter
As any veteran of Barrie’s live music scene will tell you, there aren’t many nights off here.
If you’re game for going out, the city by the Lake is guaranteed to have a gig for you every week. Whether you’re feeling an alt rock blowout, an intimate jazz ensemble or a laid back acoustic set, Thursday through Saturday in Barrie are jammed with jams from local talent and edgy bands from across the region.
Happening this week on the stage in Barrie…
THE FOXX LOUNGE
The acronym NMT has quickly become synonymous with awesome over the last few years in the Barrie music scene, as the Foxx continues to pack exciting new artists into the Lounge every Thursday.
This week the Grim Spring Tour rolls into town, led by metal enthusiasts Falset. They’ve been making a name for themselves on the circuit over the last few years as well as working on a album, and they come from good pedigree; drummer Chance LaBrie is the son of James LaBrie. That name will be familiar to metal/alternative fans as the lead singer of American prog rockers Dream Theatre and (briefly) Coney Hatch.
Also on the tour is Her Majesty The King, Island & Empires and Montreal’s Emborne Drive. Should be loud and lit, with doors at 9pm.
MORE FOXX LOUNGE
On Friday StS Promotions takes the reigns, presenting a couple of up and comers from Barrie. New City Revival hits the stage for just their second gig at the Lounge, along with The Saydes. Also on the ticket is Red Light Disco (formerly Monday Matinee) and Edward Sayers, a folk rock/blues act out of the Six.
Saturday is another killer show, with local prog/metal duo Jupiter Hollow in the local spotlight. Dorian Gray joins them, fresh off of crafting a Spotify discovery playlist you should definitely check out. They’ll be flanked by POLARITY (who bring over a decade’s worth of tunes and half a million YouTube views to the party) and Toronto’s Diamond Weapon.
