THE BEST OF BARRIE CONCERTS THIS WEEK

Music Is The Wine That Fills The Cup of Silence” – Robert Fripp

As any veteran of Barrie’s live music scene will tell you, there aren’t many nights off here.

If you’re game for going out, the city by the Lake is guaranteed to have a gig for you every week. Whether you’re feeling an alt rock blowout, an intimate jazz ensemble or a laid back acoustic set, Thursday through Saturday in Barrie are jammed with jams from local talent and edgy bands from across the region.

And if you’re an emerging group playing gigs in town, we want to hear from you! Send the finer points to stu@barrieuncovered.ca and we’ll post your shows here and on our events page.

Happening this week on the stage in Barrie…

HERITAGE PARK

53 & 3rd shows is pulling double duty with a two part show this Thursday. Episode 1 is in the glorious outdoors at Heritage Park featuring Cousin Jack, Megan Anne, the Saydes and Duncan Ivany. Totally free and it’s under a big white tent so the show is rain or shine. Gets going at 6pm. Part 2 of the double bill happens at….

THE FOXX LOUNGE

The audience that do make it back to the lounge will be treated to an ensemble of energetic local talent. Top billing goes to Madison Mueller, the Young Adult Artist of the Year (at the 2018 Josie Music Awards) and defo one of Barrie’s fastest rising artists. She’s flanked by a local new band Blind Beauty (although not new artists) and Russel Jackson Wyatt. Although he’s originally from Dublin, he’s been playing the local scene for a number of years and is prepping a new solo venture. Punkers Choices Made (Toronto) rounds out the ticket.

MORE FOXX LOUNGE

FRIDAY – Speaking of local talent, it was a huge week for one of Barrie’s favourite gypsy soul groove bands, as the Noolands announced they are on the ticket for the upcoming Roxodus festival. That should make their Friday show at the Lounge a little louder! They take over the stage with fellow gypsy poppers The DropUps (Toronto) and Montreal’s Fidel Fiasco. Bad Buzz is also in town, hot on the heels of the release of a new 5 track album. SATURDAY – Rounding out the week is a show from a newcomer to Barrie, and to Canada. Sundown Superhero hail from Barbados are on their first ever Canadian tour. And being from Barbados, we’re guessing by the end of the tour they will have no less than 50 people ask them if they can crash on their couch in January. KW’s Among Legends ( who actually are good friends with the Superheros…and we bet the lucky $#& they have crashed on their couch) and INK are also on the ticket.
