COMIC CON, MUSIC FESTIVALS AND BEER SAMPLING READY TO BE ENJOYED IN BARRIE THIS SEPTEMBER

 

Well…summer is over.

Not officially, but for all intents and purposes, it’s all downhill from here until the snow flies.

Luckily, September is awash with activities and fun events to keep you and the clan busy! Click on the headlines for links to more information on each event.

 

BPL COMIC CON

The library’s annual celebration of all things geek happens on Sep. 21st

It’s a free, family-friendly event featuring cosplayers (Costume Players) art from local artists, vendors and virtual reality!

 

 

TROUBADOR FESTIVAL

The second annual Barrie music festival happens Sept. 21 &22nd all across the city.

With over 30 musical acts (including Bedouin Soundclash, Cowboy Junkies and Damhnait Doyles ) packed in over the two days, it’s an absolute must for live music fans.

 

 

CULTURE DAYS

Barrie Culture Days offer a behind-the-scenes look at the arts through a variety of activities and programs. These initiatives promise to bring you a weekend of amazing cultural activities that will be sure to teach you something new, pique your creative interest, and expand your perception of the arts forever.

 

CARNEGIE DAYS

This annual arts festival offers great events for visitors of all ages that explore the role language plays in contemporary art. Special exhibitions, performances, readings, artists’ talks, screenings, guided tours and hands-on family workshops take place at the MacLaren Art Centre and in downtown Barrie.

 

GAME EXCHANGE

Canada’s Largest & Longest Running Video Game & Geek Culture Trade Show is back in Barrie on Sept. 15th. 

 

OKTOBERFEST

The greatest suds celebration EVER comes to Redline Brewhouse on Sep. 28th. Expect specialty beer, live music, German menu, stein holding competitions, dress up competitions, and more.

 

FRIENDS TRIVIA

‘WE WERE ON A BREAK!!!’

If you get that reference then you’ll do well at the Friends trivia night, happening at Fionn MacCool’s on Sept. 23rd.

 

 

VINYLPALOOZA

Record junkies unite! Find tons of tunes in the greatest form of physical music at Ferndale Banquet hall on Sept. 15th.

STAR STRUCK ART SHOW

Join Linda LaRonde and 20 guest artists for an afternoon of art and music. Free admission! Complimentary finger foods. Cash bar. Live music. Come check out local talent.

 

LOCAL GOODS MARKET

The fall edition brings 25 vendors including youth entrepreneurs, interactive features for the whole family, local artisans and awesome eats. The parking lot party runs from 10 till 3 along the 3 store plaza at 162-166 Napier Street in Barrie’s east end.

 

MOVIES

The Barrie Film Festival is just around the corner, and there is plenty of programs for cinephiles to wet their beaks in September.
