We’re back again with the Adventures with Dan – Episode 3: Portugal. As we’ve mentioned before, Dan Carvalho lives an amazing life. We’ve followed him on a couple of adventures already. This time we had to take a back seat and stay home, relying only on Dan’s extraordinary storytelling abilities to tell us about his latest adventure.
Off to Portugal
You see, as soon as travel bans were lifted, Dan and his wife flew to Portugal. Dan explained that they were excitedly looking at properties for purchase. Not only that, though; Dan is very much a family man and had been itching to reconnect with everyone. Two years is a long time to go without a hug…
Living the Life
Heading overseas to re-establish family connections isn’t as tricky for Dan as it is for many of us. Dan works hard like all the rest, but he also works smart. Not only that, but he’s willing to show everyone how they can too.
As a business mentor, Dan takes his work with him and set up a time each day to deal with any urgent matters.
This trip to Portugal is exciting. Not only is Dan connecting with family and checking out second homes, but he’s a bit of a tourist as well.
Harvest has just finished in Portugal, so there’s a feeling of contentment everywhere. Loving the scenery, many nature walks have been taken, with the highlight heading out through the salt marshes, with a few café stops along each journey. Wouldn’t we all love sitting at a cafe or pastelarias ordering a ‘pingado’ (espresso) or ‘abatanado’ (American style coffee) with a pastry to munch on? For most of us, that’s the dream; what’s so cool about being Dan – is that’s his reality.
Dining Experiences were Awesome
As a tourist, Dan and his wife spent a day in Lisbon where they wandered, shopped and ate. Imagine a Michelin Star restaurant where for 84 Euros a dinner for two of absolutely fabulous fish dishes, dessert and drinks were enjoyed. Even the restaurant owner, Jorginho, stopped by the table to chat.
A second meal out proved to be quite an adventure. While in Lisbon, Dan ate at a restaurant on ‘the other side of the river called the Final Destination. Now, as the story goes, you follow this little walkway for quite a while through an abandoned fishing village and seem to end up at a run-down old warehouse. However, once you take a few more steps, you notice bright yellow tables along the pier.
This restaurant is surprising to all who stumble upon it. It’s owned by Ponto Final from the Feed Phil Show. What an incredible gem. Here the food is all about deep traditional Portuguese home cooking where you’ll likely start with both salt cod and chickpeas or escabeche sardines with the dense and delightful Alentejo bread. There’s simply no better place to enjoy the riches of the sea. Ponto seems to have the world by the tail with a tag line of ‘Tourisma can be anywhere in the world’ Ponto appears to have the world by the tail.
Now there are numerous properties that Dan is considering, but no final decision yet. Is this a ploy for a return trip? We’ll see.
In the meantime, we understand more and more; that as a mentor, Dan works with you to save time, reduce stress and focus on what’s most important in your life. A life like Dan’s is worth exploring – don’t you think?
