Falling into a routine of using the same old retailers and brands that you’re used to can become mundane. Of course, you’re always going to have your faves.
Using our artistic drive, we’ve created an editorial piece collaborating with some of our city’s hidden gems.
So you can step out of those comfort zones (or perhaps not so comforting) and get the latest in what’s trending.
The Editorial Spread
While taking a look at what’s trending, it wasn’t hard to see the popularity surrounding studio rentals. Both in the artistic and business community, photography studios are gaining traction. Together with the popularity and the exclusivity these studio gems provide, we naturally wanted to create a Studio 54 inspired shoot for this month’s collab.
Of course location was key, so we connected with Krysten Williams at The Bedhead Studio. Located at 43 Owen St. in Barries’ downtown, this charming studio was perfect for our 1970s studio 54 concept. The studio is completely set up with props and decor. It is also fully equipped to suit all needs of photographers and models who rent the space. Not only does she rent to photographers in the surrounding area, but also runs her personal photography – Bedhead Boudoir.
The Bedhead Studio is currently adding more rental opportunities for use. This includes Mom Time, Date Night, and a monthly membership subscription (for whatever suits your needs). Krysten even joined us and captured some amazing behind the scenes shots. If you’re looking for things to do, or places to create some art, keep your eye out for what Krysten is up to next or book the space for yourself today.
Studio 54 Music
What is studio 54 without music? We came prepared with a DJ to provide the acoustics for the day. Leighton Bird (aka DJ Wingzz) one of our cities local DJS and music producers, set up his booth and got the party started with his musical skills. You may have seen (or heard) him at some of our local bars like the Queens Hotel.
Leighton started as a DJ before he was even of age to enter a bar. Travelling abroad and across our province to larger cities like Toronto, DJ Wingzz has a wide array of experience as a DJ making him perfect for our Studio 54 exclusive event. Once his set up was complete and the music was pumping, our models let loose so we could get those Studio 54 inspired dance shots. So if you are in need of music at your next event, we highly recommend Leighton to cover your events musical needs and get the party started.
Studio 54 Cocktails
Most parties, including Studio 54, include beverages so we connected with Founders Original to add their colourful, and delicious cocktails. And if you inspire to drink like Studio 54 days of Andy Warhol or Jerry Hall (an unlikely feet) a cocktail is definitely a go to choice. Gins, Vodka, and Tequila are among some of the top choices for drinks in the 70s and Founders provided us with their premixed cocktails in a can.
We wonder if the likes of some of Studio 54s frequent patrons like Bianca Jagger would have loved the taste as much as we did. The Tequila Paloma was a fan favourite of the day, along with the Bourbon Sour, Vodka Fizz and Gin Bramble. These cocktails are authentically crafted using only the finest propriety spirits, hand-made bitters, and real citrus juices. Whether inspiring to drink like an exotic New Yorker with the cocktail icons of the era or just looking for a refreshing preservative free alternative, you won’t be disappointed to choose a Founders Original for your next event
Studio 54 Icons
Of course when you think of Studio 54 it’s hard to imagine it without the iconic celebrities and moments (who could forget the horse in the middle of New York city’s hottest spot). While we didn’t bring a horse trooping through town, we created some iconic looks with our models to match some of Studio 54s top attendees. With fashion, music and a gorgeous space, our inspiration came to life. Resulting in a fun filled iconic event for the books thanks to everyone involved.
Uncovering these local gems we discovered, by following our own shop local slogan, that this city has a small town feel with big city style… see you for the next one.
