Ways To Give Back in 2020 (Part Four)

Ways To Give Back in 2020 (Part Three)

January is the ideal time to think about your community.

And there are plenty of terrific causes that could benefit from a bit of your free time.

Every Saturday in January, we’ll be posting a trio of causes/not for profits or charities in Barrie.

Click on the headline to learn more about each!

Sweet Charity provide health care support services to persons with a medical disability by training assistance dogs and helping individuals manage their disability.

Among their programs are the Diabetes Alert Dog program. This program trains puppies as service dogs to match them with children and youth living with Type 1 diabetes with no hypoglycemic awareness. If the child’s blood sugar drops, the dogs will alert the child or get help.

You can support them through donations, hosting a fundraising event, or volunteering.

Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka

Gilda’s Club mission is to empower by knowledge, strengthen by action, and sustain by community.

Their innovative Program of networking and support groups, education workshops and social activities are provided FREE of charge. Rooted in the belief that cancer care plans are incomplete without emotional and social support.

Barrie Food Bank

The Barrie Food Bank has been providing help in the community for over 30 years.

Their mission is to provide temporary food relief to individuals and families who are in need, and to serve as a resource to guide them along the road to self sufficiency.

You can get involved by organizing a food drive or donation. Among the most needed items are

  • Powdered Skim Milk
  • Baby Formula
  • Large Size Diapers
  • Canned vegetables
