UPDATES ON CHARITY NEEDS AND WAYS TO SAFELY HELP
Until further notice, we ask members of the public who wish to donate to Youth Haven to call us first at 705-739-7616 to arrange a time to drop off donations.
When you arrive, please leave donations on the porch and knock to let us know you have come by.
As you can appreciate, these are unprecedented times and we are taking precautions regarding COVID-19 in order to keep the youth, some who may have weakened immune systems, and are our staff healthy.
Food donations are welcomed and needed at the Busby Centre. Non-perishable food items (pasta, pasta sauce, soups, rice, canned vegatables, meal replacement beverages and bars, peanut butter, coffee, sugar, cereal, powered milk, juice and canned meats) and frozen meats so that meals can be prepared on-site. We are currently working on setting up a central location that is easily accessible to drop off donations so stay tuned. Until then donations can be dropped off at the Busby Centre. Thank you so much.
(We are currently not accepting clothing donations). Thank you for your support.
ffective March 16 2020, Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka has decided to close our doors, including cancelling all scheduled activities, to help keep our members, volunteers, and staff safe. MyLifeLine.org was created to connect cancer patients and caregivers to their family, friends, and others like them for social and emotional support. Today, more than ever, we recognize how important community can be. We are here for you. You can also access The Cancer Support Community/Gilda’s Club Worldwide helpline at 888-793-9355.
Effective March 16, 2020 all visitors and donations will be prohibited from our site until April 1. At that time we will reassess the situation and provide further communication. We continue to thank our community for any financial donations that will help us with our daily expenses to support our women and children. Financial donations are very helpful and can be processed using Canada Helps, visiting our agency website or phoning our shelter to inquire. Thank you for your ongoing support.
All outreach services will be offered via phone and email support in an effort to reduce any face-to-face contact. We have postponed all community speaking engagements, committee meetings, in- court supports/lawyers appointments and any visitors to our shelter. We thank our community for thinking of us regarding food and personal item donations but we are unable to accept any donations at this time. Again, thank you for your help and support.
We encourage women to continue to call our crisis line (705.728.2544) to receive counselling and safety planning support. We will work with you to find alternative shelter support in the interim while we manage our current shelter needs of women and children.
