Canada is heading to the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Canada clinches its first World Cup soccer berth since 1986.

Team Canada defeated Jamaica 4-0 at BMO Field on Sunday. Cyle Larin opened the scoring, which proved to be the game-winning tally. Additionally, Tajon Buchanan and Junior Hoilett scored for Canada. Jamaica’s own goal was the final marker.
Moreover, qualifying on home soil made the victory that much sweeter!
The 2022 FIFA World Cup takes place in Qatar, while the tournament runs from Nov. 21 – Dec. 18.
Barrie Jr. Sharks playoff run comes to an end
Barrie’s Jr. Sharks put forth a valiant effort at the OWHA Championship Weekend in Mississauga.
The U22 Elite program made its playoff debut on Friday afternoon. The Jr. Sharks split their round-robin games 1-1 on Friday. Afterward, the Sharks thwarted Ottawa Lady Senators’ playoff hopes with a 1-0 victory.
Barrie earned its first quarterfinal berth on Saturday against the Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins. Ultimately, the Dolphins defeated the Jr. Sharks 3-1 and effectively ended the team’s playoff run.
Next up, the Jr. Sharks participate in the OWHA Provincials on April 7-10.
Barrie Colts clinch a playoff berth
The Colts defeated the Ottawa 67’s last night by a final score of 2-1. As a result, Colts Country punched its ticket into the 2021-22 OHL playoffs. In addition, Ethan Cardwell scored the game-winner, his 19th of the season, on the power play.
Equally important was Mack Guzda’s 31 saves on 32 shots. This season marks the club’s first postseason berth since the 2017-18 campaign.
Furthermore, Cardwell recorded his 100th career OHL point. Accordingly, Cardwell has scored 19 goals and 50 points this season in 41 games. The 19-year-old was the 121st pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
