Team Canada wins its first two medals at Beijing 2022

Oh, Canada! The Olympic Winter Games are underway in Beijing, and Canada is on the board! Ottawa native Isabelle Weidemann is the first to the podium for Canada, earning bronze in the women’s 3,000 metre speed skate event.

This is the first medal for Canadian women in the long track since the Vancouver Games back in 2010. Congratulations, Isabelle!

Additionally, 29-year-old Mikaël Kingsbury took silver in freestyle skiing. The Quebec native found success in the men’s mogul event on Saturday. Kingsbury brings home Canada’s first silver medal of the 2022 Games.

    Barrie Colts losing skid continues

Sorry, Colts fans. After a winless weekend, the team’s losing streak has extended to five games. A lack of goals was the Colts’ downfall after scoring just once in two games against the Oshawa Generals. Fortunately, the boys get the week off to hit the reset button. The Colts return to action Friday, Feb. 11, against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Moreover, Barrie signed 2020 draft pick Zach Wigle to term! Wigle was a ninth-round selection, hailing from Oakville, Ontario. Additionally, Wigle plays for the Oakville Rangers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. To date, Wigle has 16 points in 30 games.

SIGNING: The Barrie Colts have signed 2020 9th Rd Pick, Zach Wigle!

    She’s here 🤩
