Barrie Colts conclude their regular season; prepare for playoffs

Colts County wrapped up regular-season action with a 6-3 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Declan McDonnell concluded a strong campaign with a three-point outing, totalling 62 points in 63 games this season. Further, McDonnell scored 18 goals and 39 points in 36 games since joining the Colts back in January.

Captain Brandt Clarke was equally impressive. The LA Kings prospect capped off his stellar season while posting a career-high 48 assists. Additionally, the returning Tyson Foerster wasted no time making an impact. Foerster amassed 11 points despite playing only 13 games.

Games 1 begins Friday, April 22 at 7 pm. Conversely, the Colts return home to Sadlon Arena for Game 3 on April 25. Formerly, the Colts faced the Steelheads during the 2018 postseason, falling to the Steelheads in six games.

Barrie Bombers Jr. C preseason results

Barrie’s Jr. C Lacrosse club ramped up activity with three matches on Saturday, finishing 1-1-1.

Firstly, the Bombers deadlocked Orangeville Northman 6-6. Afterward, the team fell short 3-1 to the Fergus Thistles. Finally, an offensive outpour led to the Bombers doubling the Wilmot Wild 8-4.

As preparations conclude, the Bombers inch closer to their home opener. In addition, the club’s season kicks off on April 29 against the Halton Hills Bulldogs. Ultimately, this will be the Bomb Squad’s first season in over two years due to the pandemic.
