Barrie Sports: Weekend Recap shares the best of the local sports scene!
Barrie Sharks results
The Jr. Sharks concluded play at the OWHA Provincial Championship this weekend. The U22-A girls competed valiantly despite falling short in the qualifying rounds. Furthermore, the team’s most successful season to date comes to an end.

While the U22-A Sharks fell early, the U13-AA Sharks earned a silver medal. Additionally, the U13-AA Sharks defeated North York Storm 2-1 to advance to the gold medal game. Although the girls battled hard, they were defeated 4-2 against the Waterloo Ravens.

OMHA tournament results
The Ontario Minor Hockey Association’s “Red Hat” championship tournament commenced this weekend. While the Barrie Minor Hockey Association did not participate, teams across the region gathered in town for competitive play. Moreover, teams aged U10-U21 took part in the local tournament.
This Tier-2 tourney is estimated to have generated over $1M in revenue for the city.
Barrie Colts weekend results
The Colts went winless over the weekend. Further, the team was trounced 9-3 in Kingston on Friday against the Frontenacs. Afterward, the Colts fell 6-1 on Saturday to the North Bay Battalion, followed by an 8-3 defeat to Peterborough Petes.
It’s been a tough stretch for the Colts while losing five straight games. In addition, the Colts have just three games remaining in the regular season.
Next, the boys travel to face the Owen Sound Attack on April 13. The Colts then return home to face the Hamilton Bulldogs on April 14. Finally, the club’s season concludes against the Niagara IceDogs on April 16.
