Barrie Baycats begin their 2022 IBL campaign

It is officially baseball season in the Simcoe County region.

The Barrie Baycats played their home opener last night at Vintage Throne Stadium against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Thus, commencing the team’s 2022 Intercounty Baseball League season. These teams last faced off during the 2021 IBL playoffs, where the Maple Leafs defeated the Baycats in the semifinals.

The Baycats earned an early shot at redemption with a 2-1 victory on Thursday, after the Maple Leafs ended their six-year run as Domenico Cup Champions last year.

Additionally, the game will include inflatable fun and activities, candy floss, snow cones, and live character performers. In-game prizes will also be available. Moreover, the Baycats plan to unveil a variety of fun-filled theme nights for the entire family.

The matchup will provide the Rovers with stiff competition against another undefeated club. On Wednesday, the Rovers rolled over the previously undefeated Unionville Milliken SC 3-0.

On the women’s side of the pitch, the Rovers take on Unionville Milliken SC. The kick-off begins at 7 pm. Notably, the Rovers remain undefeated (4-0-0). The team has outscored the opposition 10-2.
