Barrie native Alex Massie wins a silver medal in snowboarding Local Paralympic snowboarder Alex Massie took home a silver medal at last Friday’s inaugural World Para-Snow Sports Championships in Lillehammer, Norway. The Barrie native made his city proud, capping off a six-podium performance for Team Canada at the para-sports games. Massie made his Paralympic Winter Games debut back in 2018. Unfortunately, a wakeboarding accident sustained in 2011 resulted in Massie losing his left leg below the knee, altering his career plans. Barrie Colts grab two points in weekend contests The Colts kept busy this past weekend, splitting games between the Mississauga Steelheads and the North Bay Battalion. First, the visiting Steelheads tangled with our hometown Colts, narrowly escaping with a 3-1 victory. Ethan Cardwell potted the lone Colts goal, his seventh of the season.
